Band Bios

Mysti and the Doctors are a regional super-group in North Carolina. The band brings together powerhouse vocalist Mysti Mayhem, composer and pianist Michael Pelz-Sherman (PhD Music, UC San Diego) and two-time Emmy® winning producer Hal Goodtree.

Mysti Mayhem

Chatham Street Recording Artist Mysti Mayhem is a powerhouse vocalist, songwriter and performer with hundreds of performances over more than a decade across Europe and the United States.

Growing up in a small town in the Poconos, singer-songwriter Mysti Mayhem knew her big dreams needed to find a big stage. She moved to Florida, where she fell under the unlikely tutelage of the legendary Bo Diddley, whom she credits with bringing out the funk in her guitar and the soul in her voice.

Michael Pelz-Sherman

Michael Pelz-Sherman, PhD is a pianist, composer and producer. A vistuoso soloist, Michael received his doctorate in music from the University of California. He plays with the North Carolina Jazz Ensemble, the North Carolina Ballet and with an eclectic collection of bands playing prog, yacht rock, jazz-rock and the Dead.

Michael writes and records as half of Lounge Doctors on Chatham Street Records.

Hal Goodtree

Two-time Emmy® winner Hal Goodtree is a producer, filmmaker and musician. He has worked with James Earl Jones and Cindy Crawford, has produced for The New York Times and teaches filmaking at Duke University’s Center for Documentary Studies. As a musician, Hal plays guitar and bass along with the occasional vocal. He is a veteran mixing producer, song doctor and musicologist.

Hal writes and records his own material for Chatham Street Records as half of Lounge Doctors.

Lars E. Hartmann

According to rumors, Lars mom swore he was drumming in her womb. Over the past decade, Lars has played with seemingly half the leading lights in the Triangle including Jason Adamo, Better Off Dead, Southbound85, Ashley LaRue, Bruteus, Mary Selvidge and Lounge Doctors.
